Did you know that almost 50% of Non-Catastrophic Homeowner’s Insurance claims are caused by water-related incidents? If that’s the case, how can we best prevent it?

What Can You Do?

• Cleaning your gutters and downspouts to keep water away from your home’s foundation. This can prevent structural damage, mold, and rot.
• Inspect your roof regularly for missing, cracked, or damaged shingles.
• Insulate your water pipes to prevent water from freezing inside and causing cracks, breaks and water damage.
• Install automatic water shut-off valve in your water line to shut off the water supply if they detect a drop in pressure.
• Check your water bill regularly, it can be your first sign at any leaks.

But even after all of this, and you find yourself with a leak and water damage… What now? Water Mitigation, or the process of preventing or reducing the damaged caused by water in a building from flooding or leaks, would be the first step in the process in of making it "Like it never even happened."®
